Instruction for authors

  1. Submission : Papers submitted for publication should describe original work, not previously published elsewhere, totally or partly .

  2. Manuscripts must be submitted only in English and should be written according to sound grammar and proper terminology.

  3. Submission is only acceptable via journal website (www.IJMB.ir)

  4. The title page of the paper should only contain the title of the paper and, name(s), degree(s) and addresses (Tel, Fax, and Email) of the author(s).

  5. The manuscript should include: Title; No author(s) name; the Abstract; Introduction; Materials & Methods; Results; Discussion; Acknowledgement and References.

  6. Abstract ( no more than 250 words) should be presented in structured format as Background, Methods, Results and Conclusion followed by 3 to 5 Keywords must be presented .

  7. Tables in limited numbers should be submitted with the captions placed above. Do not submit tables as photograph. Place explanatory matters in footnotes, not in the heading.

  8. Figures should be in limited numbers, with high quality art work and mounted on separate pages. The cap‌tions should be placed below.

  9. The same data should not be presented in tables, figures and text, simultaneously.

  10. Papers should be supported by references. References in limited numbers and up-to-dated should be numbered consecutively as they occur in the text (number in parentheses). These should be set out in accordance with the Vancouver style - that is, they should be referred to by number in the text and set out in full at the end of the text in the style shown in the following examples. If the same reference is used more than once it should not be listed multiple times at the end of the text with different numbers used in the text each time, rather the number of the first referral should be used throughout.

· References to journals:

  Topell, S. & Glockshuber, R. (2002). Circular permutation of the green fluorescent protein. Methods Mol. Biol. 183 , 31-48.

· References to books and monographs:

  Scwartz, E. & Benz, E.J. (1995). Thalassemia syndromes, in Hoffman, R., Benz, E.J. & Shattil, S.J. et al. (eds.), Hematology; Basic Principles and Practice , Churchill Livingston, New York, NY, pp. 586-610.

· References to a paper 'in the press':

  References to a paper 'in the press' are permissible provided that the paper has been accepted for publication.

  Smith, A. & Jones, D. (Year). Analysis and comparison of metabolic pathway databases, J. Immunol , In press.

· References to websites and online databases:

  References to websites and online databases should give authors if known, title of cited page, URL in full, who the site is maintained by, and date page was accessed.

10. Abbreviations and symbols use only standard abbreviations. Avoid using them in the title and abstract. The full term for which an abbreviation stands should precede its first use in the text unless it is a standard unit of measurement.

  11. Short communication when possible; follow the same structure as original papers.

  12. The corresponding author will be supplied with 2 free issues.

  13. Ethics: The relevant Ethics committee/institution review boards of the respective institutions must approve the study.

  14. Informed consent of the patients participating in the study should be undertaken.

  15. The sole responsibility for the whole contents of the paper (views and statements) remains only to the author(s).

  16. Conflicts of interest: Submitting a manuscript must be accompanied with a statement from the authors disclosing all financial and personnel relationship that might bias their work, if any. Besides, they are requested to evident whether impending conflicts do or do not exist. A separate page should cover this proclamation and if there are further details, could be mentioned in covering letter. If an organization encompasses any financial interest in the outcome of the study, the authors are appealed to provide a declaration that have full access to all the data in the study and take complete responsibility for the integrity of the data and the accuracy of the data analysis.

  17. Page charges: There are no charges for publication in this Journal.

  18. Copyright: Accepted manuscripts become the permanent property of the Journal and may not be reproduced, in whole or in part, without the written permission of the Editor.

  19. Peer review process: Iranian Journal of Medical Biotechnology is a peer reviewed journal. All manuscripts will be acknowledged upon presenting to the Journal office, provided that all stated requirements are met. The manuscript is sent to two or more reviewers. The whole review process depends on receiving referees comments and revising the manuscripts based on these comments to the author. On receipt of the revised article from the author, and after final approving by referees, the letter of acceptance is issued to the author. Authors have the right to communicate to the editor if they do not wish their manuscript to be reviewed by a particular reviewer because of potential conflicts of interest. The author can also suggest the name of possible competent reviewers but it is up to the editor to accept it. No article is rejected unless negative comments are received from at least two reviewers.

  20. Disposal of material: Once published, all copies of the manuscript, correspondence and artwork will be held for 6 months before disposal.
